2016 Mazda CX-9 Wins Luxury Vehicle Award – Los Angeles, CA
The all-new 2016 Mazda CX-9 crossover has started production after being unveiled to the public late last year, and is already starting to earn awards. EBONY Magazine just named the midsize, three-row crossover the best in its class, thanks to its modern styling, luxurious interior and impressive standard features.
“From its proud grille to its dual exhaust, and everything in between, we’ve designed a vehicle that paints the direction for where we want the Mazda brand to go, now and in the future,” said Julien Montousse, director of design for Mazda North American Operations. “We’re honored to be recognized by EBONY, as we believe CX-9 is a bold crossover that makes a statement in its segment.”
For 2016, Mazda is introducing a new Signature trim level on the CX-9 which includes Nappa leather, real aluminum trim and rosewood sourced from Japanese guitar-maker Fujigen. The exterior features Mazda’s dynamic KODO – Soul of Motion design language, standard LED headlights and taillights, available signature grille lighting and optional 20-inch alloy wheels.
The 2016 Mazda CX-9 is also the first vehicle to receive the new SkyActiv-G 2.5T turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which delivers an impressive 310 lb-ft of torque at low rpms. Mazda wants buyers to experience usable power and class-leading fuel efficiency without the use of a complex and heavy hybrid system.
Mazda’s predictive i-ACTIV all-wheel drive system is available, which calculates data 200 times per second from 27 sensors to send power exactly where it is needed for the best possible traction. The advanced all-wheel drive system uses data from a variety of sources, including internal and external temperatures, hill angles, steering wheel position and even whether the wipers are on.
The new Mazda CX-9 is expected to arrive at Galpin Mazda near Los Angeles in late spring. Check out our online inventory for more information about all of the SkyActiv-powered vehicles available at your local Mazda dealer.
